A random rant on a relatively recurrent issue.
I was sitting in a bus yesterday, heading for home. The bus was quiet and nobody was talking, so it was very peaceful, perfect for a short nap. To my annoyance, a guy got on with his friend and sat next to me yakking loudly about trance and techno. I’m not that against trance or techno, but he was talking extremely loud. Apparently, the taller one likes trance and the shorter one likes death metal. Thus, a heated discussion about the genres ensued.
Things got much worse. The tall guy took out his handphone and started playing music at ear splitting volume! Well, ok, he played Rihanna’s Umbrella first, and I was fine with that. Then, the trance came in. And almost all of his tracks he has on his pathetic miserable phone was sharp and whiny(kinda like Raki). The ‘metalist’ said he didn’t like trance, but the tall guy just kept playing and said ‘I don’t blame you. Not everybody likes this kinda music.’
I was like WTF! He said he doesn’t like it, and you agreed, so why the hell do you keep the music playing? Of course, I did not say that, seeing that they were both better built and looked quite scary. I mean, I don’t mind if he plays Hare Hare Yukai all day long, in fact, I’d give him a hug and exchange msn contacts. Everyone has a genre of music they like. For me, I like fast paced ones, rock, denpa(don’t lol). Most of my favourite songs are from I’ve Sound, so you can guess what they’re like.
I never play my songs on a loudspeaker in a bus. No, its not because I don’t have a phone with mp3 playback, nor am I afraid of weird stares. Its simple because the are people like me who likes peace and quiet, who gets extremely pissed in a noisy environment. Why can’t he be considerate enough to think for others? I know of people who absolutely hate techno.
A simple solution. Enjoy your music yourself. Get a pair of earphones. A cheap 10 bucks one will do. If you wanna share your music, do it with earphones! But some people are too dumb and conceited to realise that.
PS: My experience is in a military context, but I can’t write what actually happened due to some legal implications. Some stuff were altered, but the gist is here. That guy is an ars*hole.
